Thomas J. Cappello Jr., age 73, of North Weymouth, died peacefully, Monday, June 19, 2017 at Brigham and Womens Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Bostons West End to the late Thomas and Pearl (Dellelo) Cappello. He was raised and educated in Weymouth and was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1961. He had lived in Weymouth for most of his life. Tom was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a truck driver for Parker Express in Avon for thirty-five years. After retirement, he worked for T.A. Iaria Corp. of Hingham for many years. They were his second family. He loved going to work and enjoyed many friendships there. Tom enjoyed traveling and getting together with friends. He was an avid Boston sports fan. He enjoyed caring for his beloved dog, Pappi. Tom was dedicated to his family and especially enjoyed supporting the activities and accomplishments of his grandchildren. Beloved husband for forty-eight years of Carole A. (Colburn) Cappello. Devoted father of Jason M. Cappello, Detective, Weymouth Police Dept. and his wife Stacey of Braintree, Jennifer A. Wagner and her husband John of Lawrence. Loving grandfather of Brianna Marion Cappello, Anthony Thomas Cappello, Jenna Carole Wagner, and Jillian Helen Wagner. Dear brother of Rita Gaughan and her husband James of Braintree, Michael Cappello and his wife Wendy of South Weymouth. Funeral Services conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m. Reverend William C. Harding III will officiate. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday, June 23, from 4 - 8 p.m. Interment with military honors in North Weymouth Cemetery.
