Charles J. Cooper of Weymouth passed away at home on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at age 86. Born in Weymouth where he was raised and educated, he lived on the South Shore all his life. A WWII Veteran US Army Air Corps, Charles worked for Boston Gear Works in Quincy as a machinist for many years before his retirement. The beloved husband of Frances M. (Barrie) Cooper, Charles was the loving father of Charles J. Cooper Jr. of Weymouth and Cheryl Ann Cooper of Quincy; dear grandfather of Charles J. Cooper III of Weymouth, Angel Marie Cooper and Cassandra Norton, both of Quincy; great-grandfather of Charles J. Cooper IV and Hailey Cooper of Hingham; and is also survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth "Bizzy" Leahy of Pembroke. Visiting hours was held on Thursday, March 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday, March 28, there was a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Burial with Military Honors is at 2:15 p.m. at MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
