Helen L. (Mello) Serino, age 92, of Weymouth, formerly of South Boston and Dorchester, passed away Aug. 22, 2013. Helen enjoyed sewing and was a well-known seamstress most of her life. She worked for ten years at Electro Switch Company in Weymouth before retiring. She was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Parish since 1956. Helen was honored by the town of Weymouth in 1999 for her 68 years of dedicated service to the Girl Scouts of America. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Serino, she was the loving mother of Louise Hickey and her late husband John of Weymouth, Carol (Erwin) Kemp and her husband Brian of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Hanson, Joseph Serino of Stoughton, Richard Serino and his wife Robyn of Weymouth, and the late Deborah Serino; beloved sister of Robert Mello of Weymouth, Donald Mello of Holbrook, the late Lucille Donovan, Arthur, Emanuel, Ruth and Ernest Mello; loving grandmother of John Hickey and his wife Kelli of N.J., Scott Hickey of Quincy, Karen (Hickey) OBrien and her husband Michael of Weymouth, Tracy (Erwin) Carter of Pembroke, Deana Erwin of Newton, N.H., Paul Kemp and his wife Kelly of Shrewsbury, Neil Kemp and his wife AnnMarie of Cheshire, Conn., Lauren (Serino) Clapp and her husband Joseph of Marshfield, Joseph Jay Serino of Hull, Derek Serino of Marshfield, Greg Serino and his wife Jessica of Marshfield, Jeffrey Marcel and Anthony Serino of Weymouth; great-grandmother to 25 great-grandchildren; beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Funeral was held from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St., Weymouth Landing, Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
