Barbara Ann Heiss, age 75, died on Sunday, March 25 at her daughters home in Concord, MA surrounded by her family. She died after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 18,1943 in Winchester, MA, she grew up in Wilmington, MA, lived briefly in Grand Forks, ND and Rochester, MN before settling in Concord, MA to raise her family. Barbara was a Concord resident for over 40 years. She was the beloved wife to 50 years to Frederick William Heiss, MD, and the devoted mother of Korbin Frederick Heiss, of Brooklyn, NY and his wife Yvonne, and Emily Gretchen Heiss Roan, MD of Concord, MA and her husband Jason. She was the proud grandmother of Sebastian Daniel Heiss and Felix Frederick Heiss of Brooklyn, NY and Christopher Frederick Roan of Concord, MA. She is survived by her sisters Joan Bishop Fallon and her husband William E. Fallon, Jr, Esq., of Melrose and Dale B. Schimmel, Ph.D. and her husband Gordon L. Schimmel, Ph.D. of Cataumet, MA. She is also survived by an aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street, Concord on Thursday, March 29 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held at Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street, Concord, on Wednesday, March 28 from 4-7pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Barbara may be made to Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., 28th Floor, New York, NY 10010 or Buddy Dog Humane Society, 151 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.
