Obituary Condolences

William D. Creighton, 81, formerly of Woburn, MA and Jamestown, NY passed away at his residence on June 30, 2013. Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 2, 1931 to William D. and Marie (Cormier) Creighton. Bill attended Boston University and was veteran of the US Army serving from 1954 to 1956. He was a 40 year employee of American Locker Security Systems, a division of AVM Corporation in numerous positions starting as the office stock boy and retiring as Vice President and General Manager. He was privileged to assist in making his company the worlds leader of that industry travelling to over 30 countries and retiring in 1991. He last resided in Mission, Texas and spent over 35 years in the Jamestown, NY area. Previously, he had lived in Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles. He was raised in Boston by great aunts and married to Barbara Vyncke and they lived in Woburn, MA until moving to Jamestown in 1966. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially model airplanes, which he built for over 65 years. He also enjoyed antique and classic cars, NASCAR, and travelling in the motor homes of which he owned three including a converted bus which he drove for over 17 years. The highlight of his early life was the involvement he had with automobile racing culminating with being a member of the pit crew on the second place car at the 1953 Indianapolis 500 race when only 22 years old. He is survived by his long time loving wife Lucile Hasley, his daughter Doreen Powell who resides in Buffalo, NY, three grandchildren: Christopher Powell (Lynn) of Florida, David Powell (Amanda), Nicole (Patrick) Donavan of Buffalo and several great-grandchildren. Also, he had three half-sisters, Dolores Dawson of Bedford, NH, and twins Bette Burrill and Susan Creighton of Rockland, MA. He was especially close to Nathan, Amy and William Powell of Lancaster, NY his former son-in-law. He was a member of many organizations, Academy of Model Aeronautics, Experimental Aircraft Association, Life Member of Antique Automobile Club of America and Chautauqua Lake Region, the Vikings Lodge and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club of Jamestown, Family Motor Coach Association, AARP, Rabboni Lodge of AF and AM of Massachusetts, NRA, and Automobile Association of America amongst others. He will be cremated and his ashes dispersed at both the Creighton family plot, Greenlawn Cemetery, Medway Massachusetts and with Lucile in Kansas City, Missouri.
