Catherine F. Hanson

Catherine F. (Horan) Hanson, 75, of South Yarmouth died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of the late Melvin Reed Hanson, who died in 1994. Born in Boston, Mrs. Hanson was the daughter of the late Bernard D. and Catherine F. (Connolly) Horan. She moved to Middleboro at the age of five and was a resident of Marshfield, Waldoboro, Maine, and Brewster, before moving to South Yarmouth. Mrs. Hanson worked as a receptionist at Epoch Assisted Living at Brewster Place and at Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth. A member of the Singles Club of Dennis, Mrs. Hanson was also a member of the Crafty Chicks, and the Harwich Brooks Free Library Knitting Club. Mrs. Hanson is survived by a son, Joseph Hanson of Forestdale; four daughters, Shauna Tilly of Cotuit, Karin Daffinee and Melinda Daley, both of Brewster, and Jennifer Johnson of Pembroke; a brother, Bernard Horan of Wellesley; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hanson was predeceased by a sister, Joan Letourneau; and a grandson, Owen Daffinee. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Foster Rd., Brewster.
