Mary A. (Keveney) Conant, of Yarmouthport, MA, formally of Whitman, MA died Nov. 1, 2013 at 89 years of age after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Margaret A. (Kilgrew) Keveney. Mrs. Conant graduated from Whitman High School. Mrs. Conant worked at the Whitman Savings Bank, and later with her husband at the A.C. Freeman Hardware Co. until 1978 when she and her husband relocated to Yarmouthport. Mrs. Conant was very active in the Saint Pius X Church in South Yarmouth, both as a parishioner and as a volunteer at the rectory. After many years of faithful service and devotion to her church, Mrs. Conant was selected to receive the Marian Medal by then Sean OMalley, Bishop of the Diocese Fall River. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles R. Conant Jr., and six sons and five daughters-in-law, Charles R. III and his wife Ellen of Hanson, Peter J. and his wife Marlene of Ossippe, NH, Paul of Boxboro, John C. and his wife Cynthia of East Longmeadow, Mark E. and his wife Catherine of South Yarmouth, and Patrick and is wife Margaret of Plymouth, and her sister Ann Meserve of Plymouth. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Jane M. (Conant) Bates of Whitman and a grandson the late Parker W. Bates III. Mrs. Conant is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives were invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 4 - 7 p.m. A funeral service from the Hallett Funeral Home was on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. with a funeral Mass at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth at 10 a.m. Burial at Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA.
