VARNEY, W.Va. — Dale Burke of Varney, son of the late Opal and Ruth Hatfield Burke, entered into peaceful rest after a brief illness from South Williamson, Ky. ARH Hospital on the afternoon of Tues., June 10, 2014, at the age of 63.
Dale is also preceded in death by a loving son, Lewis Dale Burke II, and his first wife, Joan Etta Williams Burke.
Known by family and friends for his quick wit and whimsical sense of humor, Dale could light up a room with just his very presence. His ability to make one laugh during the worst of times was a gifted trait that will be forever cherished by those who held him close. Not only was Dale quick to respond with a humorous quote, joke or remark, but his love for music will continue to play notes of sweet reflections to those who loved him. Before retiring, Dale was a proficient welder and talented construction worker who enjoyed the daily challenges that working with his hands introduced.
Those that are left to mourn his passing and honor his loving memory include his loving daughters, Danika Pruitt, Karla Burke Dennison and her husband Matthew, Amanda Sansom and Katrina Burke; sisters, Gail Dotson, Ida Burke and Louise Smith and her husband Daniel; grandchildren, Macaylee and Jayden Smith, Avaree and Mason Dennison and Aidan Burke. Dale is also survived by a close friend who kept a concerned and watchful eye over him, especially over the last few months, Paul Thomasson.
The family also extends their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff of the ICU-Unit at So. Williamson, Ky., ARH for their compassionate and exceptional care.
Dale's laughter and love for music will still be heard during family gatherings, picnics, and holiday dinners serving as a precious memory of their beloved father, brother, grandfather, friend and neighbor.
The family will join with friends Fri., June 13, from 6-9 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Services' Chapel for an evening of reflection and fellowship.
