FOREST HILLS, Ky. — Eugene "Yogi" Marcum, 75, of Forest Hills, Ky., went to be with the Lord Thurs., Dec. 12, 2013, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Ky.
Born April 25, 1938 in Wayne County, he was a son of the late Roland and Mary Farley Marcum. Also preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Brittany Marcum; two sisters, Nancy Marcum and Arlene Miller, and one brother Tony Marcum.
Yogi was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Forest Hills. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic from Sprouse Creek and a member of the UMWA Local 1440 for 38 years. Yogi was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He loved to garden and to work on anything with a motor. He enjoyed going to a NASCAR race and spending time with his brothers and sisters at church, especially at the Senior Lunch.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Gillespie Marcum; three sons David (Pam) Marcum, Michael (Rhonda) Marcum and Keith (Susan) Marcum; grandchildren, David Carless, Kayleigh, Keitley, Adam and Chandler Marcum; four sisters Virginia (Dickie) Justice, Ruth (Bruce) McGuire, Ada (Joe) Justice and Nanny (David) Jackson; two brothers, Dale (Darlene) Marcum and Dana Marcum; brother-in-law, Art Miller; special friend, Steve Mickey, and a host of other friends.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Mon., Dec. 16, at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with Steve Mickey and Bob Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.
Active pallbearers will be David Marcum, Michael Marcum, Keith Marcum, Chuck Gillespie, William Gillespie and David C. Marcum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Marcum, Dana Marcum, Donnie Ray Marcum, Bill Gillespie, Don Lambert and Raymond Sternick.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
