Richard "Dick" Farrington, 76, of Hardy, Ky., passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.
Born November 14, 1936, at McComas, W.Va., he was a son of the late Robert Glen Farrington and the late Daisy Mae Compton Farrington Rice.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Farrington and Eugene Farrington; and three sisters Shirley Distelzweig, Sandra Rice, and Myra Stacy.
Dick was the former owner and operator of Dick's Heavy Equipment, and he was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft specialist.
He attended the Belfry First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years JoAnn "Jody" Farrington of Hardy, Ky.; two daughters, Debbie Kendrick of Hardy, Ky. and Angel Colbert of Pikeville, Ky.; two grandsons he was so proud of Dr. Kristofer (Cynthia) Kendrick of Manassas, Va. and Captain Kurtis (Brianna) Kendrick of McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; one brother Larry Farrington of Baltimore, OH; a special niece Kim (Kurt) Copley and their children Katie and Davis Copley of Harvest, Alabama; his yorkie bed buddy Fancy; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday; October 3, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Toler, Ky., with Pastor Mark Helton officiating and Mark Gannon giving the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
