Ruth Grimmette

VARNEY, W.Va. — Ruth Grimmette, 84, of Varney, went home to be with the Lord Mon., Feb. 3, 2014, while a patient at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born March 17, 1929, at Varney, she was a daughter of the late Hence and Lilly Belle Hatfield White. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dallas A. Grimmette; brothers, Ben White and Phillip and wife Jenny White; sister, Ruby and husband Tom West; beloved niece, Vickie White, and nephew, R.A. West and his son, Michael Paul West.

Ruth was a member of the Jesus Name Community Church at Chattaroy where she was a pastor, evangelist, Christian and song writer for more than 55 years. Many of her songs were published and recorded.

Her survivors include her loving daughters, Judy Grimmette of Varney, Sharon Lynn Grimmette of Marietta, Ga., and Janet Fay Grimmette of Acworth, Ga.; special niece, Faye and husband Trellis of Varney; sister-in-law, Ruby White of Varney; caretaker, Dorothy Bell of Varney; grandchildren, Angela (Orville) Bailey, Christopher Warden and Bethany Grimmette, and great-grandchildren, Aaron Lee, Hannah, Harrison, and Orville Lee Bailey and Rain Warden.

Services will be held at noon Fri., Feb. 7, at Chafin Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Snodgrass and Rev. Mike Ferree officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery at Varney.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home chapel.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
