SOLON, Ohio — Jessie F. Crum, 78, of Solon, Ohio, passed away Sat., May 24, 2014.
Born Nov. 24, 1935, in Ragland, he was a son of Maudie Mahon Stumbo and Woodrow Crum and step-son of the late Walter Stumbo.
He greatly cherished and loved his family and large extended family. He was the center of attention at large family gatherings and dinners. He and wife, Pauline, lived 38 years in Maple Heights, Ohio, before moving to Solon. Their home was always open to anyone who needed a meal or a home, and they parented many more than their two children. Jessie worked 40 years as an auto mechanic, including Sun Oil Company and BP.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Spry Crum; his children, Connie (Alan) Crum-Nusbaum and James (Jen) Crum; grandchildren, Rebecca, James Jr., Christopher (Jocelyn), and Holly Crum, and great-grandchildren Samantha and Myla Crum. He was the dear brother of Helen (James Henry, deceased) Varney, Jim, deceased (Judy) Stumbo, Pauline (Homer) Gilman, Nellie (Buddy) Justice, and Peggy, deceased (Norman) Browning, and a special brother-in-law of Geri Michaels and Shirley Souders. He was the uncle of many special nieces and nephews, including Lena (James, deceased) Gannon.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thurs., May 29, at Chafin Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Bias Officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home
