HARDY, Ky. — Ruth Stiltner Stanley, 82, of Hardy, Ky., went home to be with the Lord Wed., Dec. 11, 2013, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1931, in Pike County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Willie Lee and Flora Stiltner. Also preceding her in death was her husband, William Ersel Stanley, and three brothers, Carl, Gene and Everette Coleman.
Ruth was a retired school teacher having taught at Sharondale Elementary, Hardy Grade School and Varney Elementary in Pike County, Ky., and Williamson Junior High in Mingo County. Ruth loved teaching and making a difference in the lives of her students. She was a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, William Joe (Katie) Stanley of Pikeville, Ky.; one daughter, Deborah (Michael) Stanley of Hardy; three grandchildren, Joseph B. Stanley, Alyssa (Todd) Adkins and Sidney Ratliff; one great- grandchild, Isaiah Stanley, and a host of loving friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Dec. 14, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Stanley and Donnie Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky., with Joseph Stanley, Todd Adkins, Danny Scott, Ireland Smith, Rodney Scott and Roger Bogar serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
