CHATTAROY, W.Va. — Sarah Belle Ball, 87, of Chattaroy, went home with the angels Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Trinity Healthcare Center, Williamson, W.Va.
Born March 25, 1926, on the Den Branch at Naugatuck, WV, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Martha Ramey Colegrove.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Rev. Arley Joe Ball Sr., a granddaughter Amy Jo Ball; four brothers Alex, Sherman, Harvey, and Ben Jr. Colegrove; and four sisters, Mattie Howze, Bessie Davis, Cora Lee Ball, and Geneva Ball.
Sarah Belle was a long time and devoted member of the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church at Lenore, W.Va. She was a pastor's wife for 52 years, and known for her love of her Lord and Savior, her role as a prayer warrior, a gifted alto singing voice, her love of her family, and the joy that her family brought her. She never tired of telling someone of Jesus and the plan of salvation and seeing them accept the Lord.
Survivors include four sons, A.J. (Theresa) Ball Jr. of Hendersonville, N.C., Aaron Ball of Fresno, Cal., Roger (Regina) Ball of Chattaroy, with whom she resided, and Stan Ball of Chattaroy; one brother J.T. Colegrove of Hillard, Ohio; grandsons, Roger (Amy) Ball Jr. of Chattaroy, Marcus Graham of Georgia, Brandon Ball of South Carolina, Paul Jason Graham of Indiana, Nicholas Ball of North Carolina, and Nathan (Elizabeth) Ball of South Carolina; granddaughters Alison (Travis) Sizemore of South Carolina, Angel Ball of Chattaroy, Amber (David) Staten of Indiana, Sarah Ball and Brandon Dillon of Big Splint, and Carrie Michelle Smith of Chattaroy; her great-grandchildren Christin and Christian Crum, Danielle Graham, Isabella and Olivia Ball, Savannah and Andrew Staten, Tyson and Brayden Dillon, Isabella (daughter of Brandon) Ball, Kelcie Elkins, Colton Smith, Carter J. Graham, Josie and Trinity Sizemore, and Nicholas Cooper Ball.
Also surviving is a host of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whem she loved dearly and they lovingly called her Aunt Belle.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday; December 19, 2013, at 12 p.m., from the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church at Lenore, W.Va. with Bro. Wayne Runyon officiating and Pastor Mike Smith assisting. A special tribute will be given by her eldest son A.J. Ball Jr.
Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons Roger D. Ball Jr., Marcus Graham, Brandon Ball, Paul J. Graham, Nicholas Ball, Nathan Ball, Christian Crum, and special friend Bo Copley. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Toler, Ky., with a special service at 7 p.m. with Bro. Ray Taylor officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday at the church.
