McVEIGH, Ky. — Charles Ray Smith, 68, of McVeigh, Ky., passed away Fri., April 18, 2014, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born June 25, 1945, in Pike County, Ky., he was a son of the late Onis and Zella Justice Smith. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Darrell and Kenneth Smith; half-brother, Dewey Abshire, and half-sisters, Bernice Collins and Wilma Dunn.

Charles was retired from Ford Motor Company, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the McAndrews Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Hensley of Lenore and Karen Smith of Turkey Creek, Ky.; brother, Willard (Bobbie) Smith of McVeigh; sisters, Diana (Gether) Taylor, Francis Williamson and Audrey Scott, all of McVeigh; four grandchildren; special aunt, Candy Taylor, and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sun., April 20, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at McVeigh with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Belfry Chapter No. 141 will conduct Military Graveside Rites.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with special services at 7 p.m.
