NORTH MATEWAN, W.Va. — Virginia Thorpe, a resident of Trinity Nursing Home, formerly of North Matewan, was born March 31, 1932, at Red Jacket, a daughter of the late Joe and Flossie Deboard Backus. She departed this life Wed., June 25, 2014, at Williamson Memorial Hospital at Williamson at the age of 82.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, Glen Hite and Harold Thorpe, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hite.
Virginia was a cook, having worked for the Matewan Senior Citizen Center.
She leaves to honor her loving memory and mourn her passing her son, Robert Hite of Williamson; daughter, Jennifer Daniels and her husband John of North Matewan; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three special friends Pat Brown, and J.C. and Jacob Lester.
Honoring services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Fri., June 27, at Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Ron Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher.
James Muncy, Jacob and Craig Lester, Tommy Pack, Timmy Dotson, and Bud Hill will serve as pallbearers.
J.C. Lester will serves as honorary pallbearer
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.
