Jackie Denver Varney
RANSOM, Ky. — Jackie Denver Varney, 68, of Ransom, Ky., went home to be with the Lord Thurs., July 24, 2014, from his home following a lingering illness.
Born June 7, 1946, at McVeigh, Ky., he was a son of the late William Anderson "Ance" and Josephine Hatfield Varney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three children, Donna Sue Varney, Paul David Varney and Ancie Denver Varney; two brothers, Carl Douglas Varney and Ansel Edward "Buzzy" Varney, and one sister, Gay Ella Varney.
He was a disabled road foreman for the Pike County Fiscal Court, an avid outdoorsman, and a dedicated and faithful member of the Pinsonfork Church of God where he was a member of the Men's Fellowship.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Jane Varney; one son, Robert Lee (Angela) Varney of Jeffersonville, Ky.; one daughter, Jackie Lynn (Steve) Charles of Ransom; one brother, Johnny Roger Varney of Ransom; grandchildren, Hannah Nichole Charles, Joseph David Charles, Autumn Grace Varney, Ashley Elizabeth Varney and Joshua Hunter Varney, and host of other family and friends.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Mon., July 28, at Pinsonfork Church of God with Bishop David Kilburn officiating and Bro. Roger Birchfield assisting. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery on the Left Fork of Blackberry at Ransom with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Pinsonfork Church of God with special service at 7 p.m. Saturday evening with Bishop Todd Claypool speaking, and at 7 p.m. Sunday with Bro. Eric Hubbard speaking.
