Margaret Smith

BELFRY, Ky. — Margaret Elaine Smith, 74, of Belfry, Ky., passed away Sun., Aug. 3, 2014, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in South Williamson, Ky., following a lingering illness.

Born June 24, 1940, in Williamson, she was a daughter of the late Milford L. and Mildred E. Noe Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her ex-husband Claude McCoy; her husband, James A. Smith; son-in-law, Moss Keesee; brother, Marvin Simpson; sister, Mary E. Simpson, and sibling triplets, Milford, Gilford, and Brenda Simpson.

Margaret was a retired LPN from the Appalachian Regional Hospital, and following her retirement, she worked in the deli at Velocity Market at Toler, Ky. She was a member of the Christian Assembly of God at Turkey Creek.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen McCoy Keesee of Belfry; two sons, David Claude (Julie) McCoy of Roanoke, Va., and Charles Lewis (Crystal) McCoy of Kimper, Ky.; step-daughter, Diana (Del) Davis of Sevierville, Tenn.; one brother, Glen (Mary) Simpson of Hardy, Ky.; one sister, Marlene (George) Nakagawa of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; her grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Hackney and their two sons C.J. and Ty of Hardy, Hillary (Wesley) Hall of Belfry, Matthew McCoy of Roanoke, Amy (Randall) Tickle and their daughter Aubrianna of Roanoke, Sarah McCoy of Belfry, and Andrew McCoy of Grovetown, Ga. Also surviving is a host of friends.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wed., Aug. 6, at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gary Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky., with family members serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
