Jack Charles Hicks, Jr., 86, of Bronson, is counting it all Joy to be with his Savior Jesus Christ, on Oct. 24, 2012, at Shands at UF in Gainesville. Born in Miami to the late Jack Sr. and Reva Hicks, he moved to Levy County in 1962. He was a business owner and farmer. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy
. He was a member of The Lighthouse Word Church in Chiefland. Jack loved racing stock cars and go carts. He loved to hunt and fish. He had a love of horses and loved to go to rodeo and watch his grandsons rope and compete. He loved to watch any kind of sports and especially loved the Gators and the Arkansas Razorbacks who his oldest grandson played for in 1994 to 1997. Jack had a heart for God and all who knew him knew it was his prayer for all to be saved so he would see them again in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Erma Hicks of Bronson; children, Larry (Gail) Hicks of Chiefland, Sandy (Gary) Kestner of Jonesboro, AR, Debra (Craig) Grant of Bronson, Jack C. Hicks, III of Chiefland; brothers, Lamar Hicks of Jacksonville, James Hicks of Quitman, GA, Donald Hicks of GA; sister, Eugenia Madre of GA; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.Funeral Services were Sunday, Oct 28, at 3 p.m. at Lighthouse Word Church with the Rev. Travis Moody and the Rev. George Kearns officiating. Visitation was on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
