Williston Police Department Communications Officer Daniel Ray "Danny" Graves Sr., 55, of Trenton died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.
He began his dispatch career at the age of 19 with the Florida Highway Patrol. During his 31-year career with the Florida Highway Patrol, he was assigned to Ocala, Gainesville, Lake City and Jacksonville.
After he retired, he joined the Williston Police Department in 2009 and served until his death. In 2012, he was the department's Communications Officers of the Year.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Anita Ann; son, Dan (Sonya) Graves Jr.; daughter, Juanita (Michael) Holman of Callahan; sister, Sharon Bennion of Ocala and eight grandchildren.
A viewing will be Friday, Jan. 10 from 1-3 p.m. and the funeral will follow at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 1301 N. Young Blvd. Chiefland. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church 12250 N.E. 30 Ave. Chiefland.
