Dennis Neal Hoover, 65, of Williston died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville.

He was born April 28, 1948 in Elgin, Ill. and moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1962.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and proudly served his country, including almost three years in Vietnam, where he was a crew chief and door gunner on a helicopter. He survived three crashes and when he returned home, as all Vietnam veterans, tried to go forward with his life.
He became a Master Tree Surgeon and landscaper in the Buena Vista area.
In 1992 he moved to Williston where he shared his home with his parents, whom he relocated to the area.
On Feb. 5, 1994, he married Susan in the VA?Chapel, and when he transcended to the Arms of the Angels, she was by his side.
Survivors include his wife; mother, Ruth Hoover; sister, Debbie Bradshaw of Ft. Lauderdale; daughters, Julie (David) Barnett of Williston, Joyce (Rick) Uliano of Williston and Denise Hoover of St. Joliet, Tenn; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nephews and many, many friends in South Florida, Williston and Fanning Springs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer and his brother, Kevin.
A memorial service and military honors will be held at a later date.
