Ernest Leon "Kayo" Patterson Sr., 85, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
He was born in Lulu June 17, 1927 to the late Lonney Bryan Patterson Lovelace and George M. Patterson.
He served in the United States Army. He worked at the Shell plant in Archer, worked for Whitehurst Road Construction, was an old time cowboy riding the range out on Payne's Prairie, was a mechanic for Brasington Cadillac, Gainesville, ran the J.P. Ranch, Chiefland, Gainesville and Ocala Livestock markets, and all this while keeping up with his own 130-acre farm in the sandhills of Levy County. He was a past member of Concord Baptist Church and current member of Archer Baptist Church, being a deacon in the past of both and loving to sing the wonderful gospel songs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta and his grandparents who helped raise him, Elizabeth Alvenia Bryan Cason and step-grandfather James Lafayette Cason.
He is survived by his son, Ernest Leon (Trina) Patterson Jr. and their children, Lane and Bailey; daughter, Rose Marea (Krishna) Rao and their children Ryan, Michael and Kristina.
He was an only child, but grew up with his aunt, Jimmie Cason Sapp as a very close sister and step-brother, Charlie (Leona) Lovelace.
Services were held at Knauff Funeral Home Dec. 10 with Dr. Ray Scott and Dr. James Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Orange Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the care of Knauff Funeral Home-Williston.
