James Melvin Eiland, 74, of Chiefland died Nov. 15, 2012 at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville.
He was born May 2, 1938 in Mississippi to B.B. and America Eiland.
He married Betty Meeks Eiland in 1983. He lived in Chiefland and worked in sales and later retired from the Levy County School Board.
He loved the outdoors, working in his yard and watching the Gators play.
He is survived by his wife and his three children, Mark (Donna) Eiland, Ricky (Elisha) Eiland, Debbie (Danny) Watson; two stepchildren, Chuck (Rhonda) Cook, Kalyn Gay; six grandchildren, Kimber (Jarred) Snyder, James Eiland, Erin Eiland, Clayton Eiland, Clinton Bullard, Tymberlynn Watson; six step- grandchildren, Kyle (Jamie) Cook, Kasidy Cook, Keri Gay, Kendalyn Gay, Justin Lee, Trent Lee, three brothers, Jesse (Emma) Eiland, Carl (Susie) Eiland, Mike Eiland; two sisters, Odell Richardson, Marilyn (Gene) Coble.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Murray Eiland and his parents, B.B. and America Eiland.
Services were Nov. 20 with Pastor Bill Keith and Pastor Chuck Cook officiating. Interment followed at Long Pond Cemetery in Chiefland.
