Troy Michael Smith, 56, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 9, 2018.
He was born Nov. 14, 1961 in Williston and resided in Archer all of his life. His accomplishments were many: a diploma as a Certified Electrician, a diploma as a Journeyman Wireman, Certificate of Completion in OSHA 30 Training, an Associate of Science in Building Construction Management Technology and TSA Certified. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union #1205,and a lifetime member of the NRA.
His hobbies were fishing, especially fly fishing, making fishing flies by hand with his 6-year-old granddaughter, hunting and researching his family history. He enjoyed his work and getting an education. He always enjoyed a challenge, whether crossword puzzles or a complicated job. He loved God, country and family.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd (Buddy) Jackson Smith; his youngest sister and hunting buddy, Tara Holcomb; his paternal grandparents, Clementine and Russell Smith and his maternal grandparents, Minnie and Joseph Mangum.
Troy is survived by his wife, Sherilyn Smith; his mother, Rebecca Bradt; two sons, Jared Smith and his fianceé, Louella Lledo; Jeremy and wife, Morgan Smith; one daughter, Haley Smith; one granddaughter, who stole his heart, Briar Smith; two brothers, Travis and wife, Tally Smith; Tracey and wife, Debbie Smith; one sister, Tresha and husband, Bill Langford; brother-in-law Shawn Holcomb; three aunts, Eleanor and husband, Sam Downing, Phyllis Cribbs, Patty Bradt; three loving nieces and three great-nieces, six nephews and two great-nephews, many cousins and friends.
Family, friends and all who would like to share their experiences and memories of Troy may come together Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1p.m. at the IBEW Local # 1205 Union Facility at 2510 NW 6th Street, Gainesville, Fla. 32609-2946
Troy received a kidney transplant in November 2016. It was his wish before he passed away that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Troy's youngest brother, Tracey Smith at his existing GoFundMe account at Tracey Smith Kidney Fund of Ft White, Florida who is also in need a kidney transplant.
