Christopher Shawn McGaw passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013, surrounded with love.
Chris was born May 2, 1972, in San Francisco, coming to Mendocino County when he was 1 year old.
He grew up and attended school in Willits, then spent his next 20 years in the Redding area working mostly in construction. He spent the last 15 months in Willits to be with his family.
Chris loved fishing, cooking, the ocean, people, music, being outdoors, fixing and building things, but more than anything Chris just loved life.
His charismatic personality ensured he had friends wherever he went. His beautiful smile and positive attitude will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his mother, Lu-Ann Rogers Burton; his brother, Airyan McGaw (Alex); his sister, Shira McGaw; his stepfather, Bruce Burton; nephews Casey and Clayton, and his niece, Georgia, all of Willits; his stepson Zach McLeod of Redding; his Aunt Becky (Robin) in Missouri; his Aunt Jan (John) in Colorado; his Uncle Alan (Ellen) in Alaska; and many cousins. He also leaves behind his good friend, Johnny Burton of Willits, special friends Bob and Dawn Lee of Anderson, and lifelong family friends Guin Quilter and her mother Linda Grace, of Willits; and his many friends in Willits and the Redding area.
There will be a celebration of Chris' life on April 6 at 1 p.m. at Brooktrails Lodge.
