On Friday, December 21, 2012, Dr. Robert Nixon passed away as a result of the ravages of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
He was born May 31, 1940, in Escondido. From there his family moved to Upper Lake.
His high school years were spent at Monterey Bay Academy for four years. College followed at Pacific Union College, with entry following to the School of Dentistry, Loma Linda University. He graduated in June 1965, and practiced for two years in Hayfork. But he wished a more varied practice, so moved to Willits in September 1967. His practice opened for patients in December 1967; he retired in April 2006.
He is survived by wife of 50 years, Bette L. Nixon; brother John R. Nixon of Reno Nevada; daughters Stefani Ann Nixon of Willits, and Kimberley Alise Vieten of Tillamook, Oregon; grandchildren Lacey Helen and Sarah Jessilyn Vieten and Dillon Charles Buchanan; and by sons-in-law Richard Vieten and Richard Chapman.
He will be missed by friends and family. The outpouring of sympathy from the community has been wonderful.
Any gifts of remembrance are requested to be made to Willits Christian School on Bray Road where his children and grandchildren have, and are, being taught, or to Phoenix Certified Hospice of Willits. Their support during this time was invaluable.
