Victor Vick Nelson Obituary
Victor (Vick) Nelson, 69, went to his happy hunting ground on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Vick lived in Clearlake Oaks with his beloved wife, Toni Nelson, and two hunting dogs. He married Toni on July 16, 1994 at the Presbyterian Church in Covelo. He was devoted to his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and pets.
Vick was born in Phoenix, Arizona on September 13, 1944 to Lois and Delbert Nelson. He attended school in Willits and Covelo. He worked for the North Western Pacific Rail Road, and Louisiana Pacific in Covelo as a certified lumber grader and superintendent.
Vick had four children, Paul, Victoria, Virginia, and Shawn with his first wife, Enita Elphick.
Vick had a passion and talent for hunting, training dogs, keeping up with the news and finding arrowheads. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to hunt and reload ammunition.
Vick was predeceased by his beloved son Paul, brother Don, his parents, fondly remembered Grandparents Mary and Barry Nelson, Grandmother Mattie Cox, Uncle Kent Cox, cousin Bob Money, cousin Greg Horn, Mother-in-law Alyce Falge, and his best friend Ernie Brumley.
Vick is survived by his wife, Toni, his three children and their families, including:
Vick's eldest grandchild, Ryan Nelson, son of Paul Nelson and Nancy Nelson McGuigan.
His daughter Victoria Nelson Meyer, her husband Milo Meyer, their daughter Ashlee and her husband Logan Fiedler (and baby Madison Kaymbryn on the way); son Erik Meyer, his wife Kelly Meyer and their children Aidan, Austin, and Ava; and daughter Emilee Adams and her husband Aaron Adams.
His daughter Virginia Nelson Smith, her husband Mike Smith, and their children Courtney, Jason and Ryan Smith, as well as Ryan's wife Crystal Smith, and their children Owen and Payton.
His son Shawn and Rachel Nelson. and their children Sierra Nelson, Trent Pack, Wyatt Nelson and Garrett Nelson.
And Toni's two daughters, Zephyr and Holly.
Vick is also survived by his cousin Shirley and Glenwood Wagner and family, his dear friend Pauline Brumley, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Lois Horne and family, brother-in-law Pat Falge, his daughters Linda and Michelle, and family, brother-in-law Mike Falge, and his wife Sherry and their daughters Heather and Caity, and dear friends and neighbors.
A service will be held at Faith Tabernacle Church at 24380 East Lane, in Covelo, on Saturday, November 16 at 11a.m., followed by a graveside burial and a reception at the church. All who wish to celebrate Vick's life are welcome. The arrangements are being coordinated by Anker-Lucier Mortuary.
