Henry Thomas Wagner Obituary
Henry Thomas Wagner passed away March 11, 2014 with his granddaughter Lisa and family by his side in Fortuna. He was 89 years old. Born in Greenville, Kentucky on November 9, 1924, he was the second of 7 children of Eugene and Artie Wagner. He was 12 years old when he came to California with his family. His mother passed away when he was 16. He cut wood with his Dad. He was a Lumber Grader for Redwood Products when he was drafted to the United States Army in 1942 at age 18. He served in the Army under General Hopkins in Hiroshima as a Sergeant. He was discharged and returned from World War II in 1944. He met and married Shirley, his wife of 46 years and had two daughters, Linda and Debbie. He had five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Henry loved and enjoyed his grandchildren very much.
He worked at Union Lumber until he retired at 62 years of age. He always enjoyed being with his family. When Henry was younger he loved the water; water skiing at Lake Mendocino and hunting and fishing at Keller Lake. He loved his home state of Kentucky and was very proud to have served for his country.
Henry is preceded in death by his two sisters: Mamie Johnson and Jerline Kroh.
He is survived by his brothers: Marvin Wagner, Glenwood Wagner and Elwood Wagner. Sister: Mae Sundstrom. Daughters: Linda Woolley and Debbie and son-in-law Richard Huddle. Grandchildren include: Lisa Woolley, Cory and wife Carrie Woolley, Melissa Stone, Gary and wife Jennifer Huddle, Amy and husband Jesse Grooms. Great-Grandchildren include: Megan, Kyle, Jayden, Kaylan, Brian, Macie, Jacob and Courtney. He was laid to rest at Little Lake Cemetery.
