Darrell Eugene Williams, 82, of Union City, Ind., passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2014 at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital, Winchester.
He was born August 16, 1931 in Eaton, Ohio, to the late George W. and Anna (Cottingham) Williams. He graduated in 1950 from Madison Township School in Jay County. He honorably served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict
. Darrell was a lifelong farmer in Randolph County but was also was employed as a stock chaser for Workhorse Chassis, retiring in 2002. He had also worked at Sheller Globe, Union City Body Company, Westinghouse and Strock Grocery. He was a member of Masonic #401 Turpin Lodge of Union City, Ind., where he served as Worshipful Master; of Scottish Rite – Mizpah Shrine; and #444 Order of Eastern Star, where he served as Worthy Patron.
Darrell and his wife Sharon were looking forward to celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 54 years, Sharon (Hindsley)Williams; three sons, David Williams of Portland, Randy Williams (wife, Stacy) of Winchester and Jerry Williams (wife, Luanne) of Villa Hills, Ky.; one grandchild, Heather Nicole Williams; three step-grandchildren, Ryan Hackman (wife, Maggie), Daniel Hackman (wife, Angela) and Gary Hackman (wife, Rachael); six step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy H. and Kenneth Williams; and two sisters, Margaret A. Curts and Georganna Shauver.
A service to celebrate Darrell's life is noon Wednesday at Fraze-Brooks Memorial Chapel. Union City, Ind. Burial will follow at Lisbon Cemetery, Union City, Ind.
