Don R. Parker, 87, a longtime resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away July 10, 2013.

He was born Feb. 11, 1926 in Winchester. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II and later attended Purdue University. He also lived in Farmington, New Mexico where he met his wife of 56 years, Helyn Sue McMurtry. They moved to El Paso in 1967. He worked with the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 35 years. Don was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Purdue University, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and an El Maida Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Helyn Sue Parker; his children Donna Branum (Brent) and Robert Parker (Stacey); his grandchildren Samantha Parker, James Parker and Dylan Branum; step grandchildren Todd Branum, Derrick Branum and Leah Branum; and his brother, David Parker (Lucy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Inzie Parker; his infant daughter, Susan Jean Parker; siblings, Dick Parker, Dorothy Holdeman, Frances Keys and Marilyn Turner.
A memorial service is 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Funeral Home, El Paso, Texas. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
