George Brouse, Jr., 76

George R. Brouse, Jr., 76, of Richmond, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Ambassador Healthcare.
He was born May 11, 1937 in Lynn to the late George and Frances Jones Brouse. He lived most of his life in this area. George was a 1955 graduate of Richmond High School and served in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a police officer for the Richmond Police Department, retiring after 25 years. George was a 911 dispatcher from 1993-2006, when he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Harry Ray Post #65, Fraternal Order of Police, Richmond Railroaders and a former member of REACT. George enjoyed collecting model railroads.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Lewis Brouse, to whom he was married Oct. 3, 1964; children, Terry (Micky) Stamper of Lafayette, Vicki (Paul) Mallory of Indianapolis, Gary (Kathy) Brouse of Richmond, Richard Brouse of Fort Worth, Texas, and Daniel (Michelle) Brouse of Richmond; a nephew who he raised, Eric (Belen) Brouse of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by two sisters, Eleanor Mann and Sharon Smith.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with Pastors Jay and Charlotte Barden officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
