Greg Peterson, 60, of Winchester, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
He was born March 4, 1953 in Winchester to Richard K. and Vivian (Hesser) Peterson. Greg was a 1971 graduate of Winchester Community High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired as a truck driver from Wick's Pies in Winchester. He was a member and a Trustee of the First United Methodist Church in Winchester. He also belonged to the Winchester American Legion, Post #39 and the Farmland Conservation Club. Greg was a former member of the Saratoga Lions Club. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping. Greg was also an avid sports fan, following Winchester athletic events, the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana University and the Indianapolis Colts.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of 12 years, Sara (Shierling) Peterson of Winchester; a son, Matt (Darcy) Peterson of Dallas, Texas, a daughter, Randi Lynn Peterson of Indianapolis; a son, Keith Peterson of Muncie; stepdaughters, Anesta Zapf of Indianapolis and Gail Cazel of Winchester; a stepson, Neal Cazel of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Garrison Peterson, Elin Peterson and Tripp Peterson; a brother, Gary (Susan) Peterson of Farmland; a niece, Kelsey Peterson of Jeffersonville; and a nephew, Trent Peterson of Winchester.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home, Winchester, with The Rev. Heather Foley officiating. Burial will follow at Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga.
