Harold E. Asterman, 92, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born December 13, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Marvin and Sadie (Flory) Asterman. Harold served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is a retired farmer and truck driver. Harold was a member of East Main Church of Christ in Greenville, Ohio; Greenville D.A.V.; Greenville American Legion; Greenville V.F.W. and was past trustee of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Harold is survived by his wife, Naomi Grace (Ross) Asterman whom he married January 11, 1943; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Valna Asterman of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Brian and Lynnette Trent, Mark Trent, Julie and Jeremy Fisher, Ross Asterman and JB and Kelly Asterman; great-grandchildren, Brittany Trent, Ryan Trent, Chase Trent and Jessica Whittaker; a great-great grandson, Rage Miller; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joan Asterman of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Trent; and a step grandson, Greg L. "Wilbur" Trent.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with The Rev. Jim Morehouse officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran's Honor Guard. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Greenville Township Memorial Garden in Darke County.
