Keith L. Fields, 90, of Winchester, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center, Winchester.
He was born April 5, 1924 in Randolph County to the late Alva and Mabel (Sherman) Fields. He was a 1942 graduate of Saratoga High School and a member of the Clear Creek Congregational Christian Church. Keith served honorably in the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from the Penn Central Railroad after 20 years as a telegraph operator. He also worked as a local carpenter/handyman.
He was a member of Winchester Masonic Lodge, #56 F.&A.M.; the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Ridgeville American Legion, Post #509; and the Saratoga Lions Club. Keith was also a past Randolph County Building Inspector and a Boy Scout Leader.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Vivian M. (Young) Fields of Winchester; three daughters, Catherine Chambers of Winchester, Carolyn (Ted) Martin of Ridgeville and Diana (Michael) Thorn of Winchester; seven grandchildren, Laura Copeland, Steven (Stacy) Martin, Eric (Alexzania) Chambers, Lindsey Chambers, Chuck (Christina) Thorn, Gabe (Roziland) Thorn and Chance Thorn; seven great grandchildren, Jaycie Copeland, Chelsea Copeland, Miranda Martin, Ava Martin, Taylor Thorn, Taryn Thorn and Hadley Thorn; and a brother, Lloyd (Doris) Fields of Saratoga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Curtis Fields; and three brothers, Charles, Ernie and Marvin Fields.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home, Winchester, with Pastors Tom Sells and Steve Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Weimer Cemetery, north of Saratoga, with military rites conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A masonic service is 8 p.m. Friday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.walkerswinchester.com.
