Myra Shierling, 83

Myra J. (Coby) Shierling, 83, of Venice, Fla., passed away of cardiac arrest at the Regional Medical Center in Venice, FL. Sunday, April 27, 2014.
She was born April 25, 1931 in Union City to the late Glen E. and Esther M. (Webster) Coby. Myra was a graduate of Union City High School and became a registered nurse on graduation from the School of Nursing at Ball State University, Muncie. Her marriage to John P. Shierling at Indianapolis in 1952 lasted for 50 years until his passing in 2002.  They resided in Aurora, Colo., during John's service in the Air Force. Returning to Indiana, Myra worked for Purdue University Student Medical Services while her husband completed his degree. The family then moved to Windy Hills, Del. Further moves took them to Indianapolis then Medina, N.Y. and lastly to Venice, Fla. In between these moves, Myra raised four sons, did charity work and at several times worked as a nurse.
Survivors include her four sons, Stephen P. of Lockport, N.Y., Craig L. of Albuquerque, N.M., Curt D. of Jamestown, N.Y. and Randal J. of Rochester, N.Y.; four sisters, Carol J. Fraze of Saratoga, Dennis D. Goodwin of Belpre, Ohio, Jean F. Fossedal of Edgerton, Wis., and S. Nicole Maresch of Venice, Fla.; her stepmother, V. Jean Coby of Union City, Ind.; three granddaughters; and three great grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Leatrice E. Resor.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga, with Pastor Danny Hines officiating.
