Robert "Bob" Eugene Williams, Sr., 73, of Winchester, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
He was born July 25, 1929 in Tunnelton, W.Va., to the late James Evert and Virginia Catherine (McGinnis) Williams, I. He was a 1958 graduate of White River Township High School and a 1962 graduate of Purdue University, with a BS in Agriculture and Animal Science. Bob worked for FHA, but had also raised cattle and farmed and was a truck driver. He attended and was a longtime member of Buena Vista Congregational Christian Church, where he was the assistant treasurer. He loved to fish, go camping and truck driving. Family and church were very important to Bob and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and their activities.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Mae (Haycraft) Williams of Winchester; a daughter, Sharon Ann (Jeffrey) Clawson of Delphi; a son, Robert Eugene (Sonia) Williams, Jr. of Farmland; a daughter, Brenda Mae Thompson of Lynn; a son, Charles Evert (Linda) Williams of Winchester; a son, Lee Adam (Billie) Williams of Winchester; 13 grandchildren, Jessica (Hank) Veach, Alyssa Clawson, Shaun (Danielle) Williams, Leah Williams, Taylor Thompson, Logan Thompson, Chloe Thompson, Harlee Williams, Ashlynn Williams, Drayden Williams, Steven Byrum, Travis Guntle, and Janessa Guntle; a brother, James Evert (Brenda) Williams, II of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Mazel Williams of Tunnelton, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry A. Williams; and a son-in-law, Kirk Thompson.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Buena Vista Congregational Christian Church near Unionport, with Pastor Tracy Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Walker Funeral Home, Winchester, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.walkerswinchester.com.
