Janis Peacock, 98

Janis B. Peacock, 98, of Winchester, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Friends Fellowship Community, Richmond, where she had resided the past couple of years.
She was born May 14, 1916 in Ottawa, Ill., to the late Ira S. and Sadie M. (Cross) Brooks. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Randolph County and married Virgil E. Peacock shortly after graduating. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jericho Friends Meeting. Janis was involved in the United Society of Friends Women and the Randolph County Art Association. She was an excellent weaver, a very good cook, and enjoyed working with flowers and making flower arrangements. Janis treasured her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Von (wife Ruth) Peacock of Colima, Mexico, Kent Peacock of Winchester, Jean (wife Betsy) Peacock of Rocheport, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Susan Ho of California; four grandchildren, Kim (wife Veronique) Peacock of North Carolina, Jody (wife Orla) Peacock of Indianapolis, Daren Peacock of California and Emily Peacock of California; and a great grandson, Nicolas Peacock of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Mark Peacock; a brother, Jean Brooks; and two sisters, Kathleen Brumfield and Lorine Charlesworth.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
