Joseph J. Almonrode, 85, of Saratoga passed away Thursday July 10, 2014 at Jay County Hospital, Portland.
He was born on April 9, 1929 in Saratoga to the late Joseph J. and Marie (Iliff) Almonrode. Joseph was a 1947 graduate of Saratoga High School. He retired after 37 years from Westinghouse in Union City, Ind. He was a flight instructor and enjoyed flying airplanes, woodworking and craft shows.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marjorie (Wynn) Almonrode; four children, Connie (Rex) Campbell of Winchester, Barry Almonrode of Winchester, Kathy Millares (Doug) Union City, Ind., and Robert Bobby (Dawn) Almonrode of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Irvin Almonrode; and one sister, Virginia Houk.
Funeral services are 4 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Home, Winchester. Burial will follow at Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga.
