Fred Allen, 84

Fred Parker Allen, 84, of Lynn, passed away early Friday morning, July 25, 2014 at Rose Bud Village, Richmond.
He was born July 14, 1930 in East Bernstadt, Ky., to the late Pal and Roxie (Goins) Allen. A lifelong farmer, Fred consecutively worked at 20 years at Wallace Metal and 15 years as a casket maker for Astral Industries, retiring in 1990. He was a hardworking, good, honest man who loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his leisure time hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, enjoying baseball and coaching little league.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Donald Allen (wife, Cindy) of Fountain City and Fred P. Allen, Jr. (wife, Cheryl) of Kentucky; a daughter, Delayna Moore (husband, Terry) of Illinois; three step-children, Carol Rivera, Peggy Woods and Jay Toney (wife, Theresa); four sisters, Nora Elza of Richmond, Sue Nicholson of Virginia, Edith Strittmatter of Texas and Ann Beard (husband, Paul) of Kentucky; a special friend, Carol Shell; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Jr. and Ray; a sister, Myrtle; and a special friend, Dorothy Allen.
A service to celebrate Fred's life is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Thomas Memorial Chapel, Lynn. Burial will follow at Quaker Lynn Cemetery, Lynn.
