Maxine A. Shaneyfelt, 79, of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center in Winchester.
She was born on November 19, 1933 in Winchester to Paul and Ruth (Cox) Unger. She was a 1951 graduate of McKinley High School and attended the Randolph Friends Church. She married Robert E. Shaneyfelt on February 6, 1954 and was a homemaker. Maxine was an avid I.U. basketball fan and loved spending time with her family and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Gary (Lora) Shaneyfelt; a daughter, Debbie Shaneyfelt, both of Winchester; a brother, Phil (Erma) Unger of Muncie; two granddaughters, Amy (Heath) Pingleton of Coatesville, Shauna (Rob) Steinke of Wapakoneta, OH; a grandson, Ryan Shaneyfelt of Union City; five great grandchildren, Alyssa and Colton Pingleton, Devon, Madilyn and Alexys Steinke; two sister-in-laws, Glenda Retz and Bonnie Shaneyfelt; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert; a brother, Bob (Mary Lou) Unger; and in-laws, James (Bev) Butler, John Retz and Richard Shaneyfelt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Randolph Friends Church. Burial will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery.
