Ian BRUNO Obituary

Published by Windsor Star from Jul. 11 to Jul. 12, 2013.
BRUNO, Ian Anthony
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ian in England on June 12 at age 32. Loving son of Anthony and Helen (nee Carrier) Bruno. Cherished brother of Vanessa O'Sullivan (Adam). Much loved uncle of Meghan and Liam O'Sullivan. Dear grandson of Therese Carrier (late Hermel) and John Bruno (late Velma). Beloved nephew of Denis and Lorraine Carrier, Joan Singh, Frances and Peter Badenoch, Catherine, John and Erika Bruno. Friend and cousin of Sean and Dominique Bruno, Ben Badenoch, Kim Farid and Michael Jeanneault. Ian graduated from the U. of W. with an Honours Bachelor of Science, Physics and High Technology Degree and went on to Western University to get his Bachelor of Education. In his studies, he worked in Breast Cancer Research and Marine Biophysics whereby he published several articles which were presented at the national and international level. He enjoyed being a part of an improv comedy team "the Dropouts" in which he was known for his plethora of accents. He was very involved in numerous Windsor theatre groups where he performed in several plays as well as worked behind the scenes. He played Yorkie in Windsor's Rum Runner's Tour. He was a prolific author, having written a play, "Survive Another Day," which was performed with much success by Theatre Windsor. He taught piano and guitar and at one time began learning the bagpipes. He earned his dark blue sash for Kung Fu at Wu Shen Temple. He finally achieved his dream of teaching full time at Tollbar Academy in Grimsby, England where he was admired and respected by his many students and co-workers. He developed a love of travelling, having ventured to Eastern and Western Canada, the USA, Germany, Austria, Mexico, Denmark, Scotland, Amsterdam and numerous British cities. Ian touched people wherever he went, many of whom became lifelong friends. He was known for his gentle smile, his wit and humour, his intelligence, his "joie de vivre," his artistic ability and his curiosity in so many facets of life. He had the heart of a lion and the soul of poet. Little did he know that he had so much to do in so little time and in many respects he exceeded us all. Ian, in our hearts you have left a deep and empty void. You will be loved, cherished and remembered always. Cremation service was held. To Ians family
I had the pleasure to work with Ian at mad science and he is someone who I'll never forget. He had wit, knowledge and a sense of humor that was beyond his years. He was so interesting to talk too and captivated people instantly. He was intriguing because he seemed quiet but then had a personality that always made everyone laugh. The children absolutely adored Ian and he put passion for learning into them. He would always talk about his niece and the love he has for her would show on his face. Im so sorry for such a great loss of a truly unique and inspiring person.

I knew Ian through my connection with Theatre Windsor and the Rum Runners Tour.He was a versatile young man and he was taken from us all, too soon.He was always friendly even though he barely knew me.
I know he will be missed terribly and with all the memories he has left us all with, we can continue to celebrate his contributions to our world.
Prayers for the healing of your hearts. God bless you all.
