Doug was my best friend during our first three years at Patterson Collegiate (1950-53). Each school day we had lunch in the back room of his parents' souvenir store near the tunnel exit downtown Windsor - an egg salad sandwich made by his mother at the lunch counter, plus a tall glass of coke. I recall the time the authorities (the RCMP I believe) tracked him down broadcasting without a license from their apartment at the corner of Pellisier and Park. After he and Carrol became a number he had better things to do than hang around with me every day, but we remained good frriends until I moved away in 1955. We never saw each other after that, but I still have fond memories of those teen years.
