O'BRIEN, Bernadette Marie Lise (nee Joanette)
December 2, 1940 - April 25, 2016
Dearest wife of Brian O'Brien for 57 years, loving mother to daughter Carole (Tony) Deslippe (Windsor), son Shane O'Brien (Corky) (San Pedro, CA). Proud grandmother to granddaughters, Kathleen, Ashley, Maegen and grandsons, Ross and Jamie, cherished sister of Cecile Joanette (Ottawa). Survived by sister-in-law Eileen (John) King (Ottawa), brothers-in-law; Michael O'Brien (Seattle, WA), Ronald (Anne) O'Brien (Hilton Head, SC). Also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Reunited with her parents Candide (nee Lauzon) and Hormidas Joanette; brothers Noel, Jean- Paul, Bernard and Gilles and late sister-in-law Ellie Rattray (Harry, also deceased; of London, England), Brother-in-law Frank O'Brien (Marie, also deceased). Bernadette will be missed by her dear friends Irene Reninger, Isabel Beattie and family including many close neighbours and longtime euchre friends. At Bernadette's request, a private viewing was held with cremation taking place immediately afterwards. Bernadette was an avid card player and consummate volunteer. Most recently her passion was lending her time to such places as VON, CNIB, Brentwood and the Downtown Mission to name a few. She enjoyed giving back, helping in many ways and giving to others in need. Her infectious good spirit and sense of humour touched many people. To all the doctors and staff that cared for her during her time spent at Windsor Regional Hospital (Met Campus) and Berkshire Continuing Care; our family wishes to say a big thank you for the compassion shown to Bernadette and family. We would also like to say a special thank you to close friends of the family who have supported us during these difficult times. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at Kelly Funeral Home of Windsor.

Mon amie de coeur Bernie - Comme tu vas me manquer! Sans toi, je n'aurais pas été heureuse pendant les 2 premières années 70 passées à Windsor.

J'offre mes plus sincères condoléances à Brian, Carole & Shane. Je suis heureuse à la pensée que Bernie est partie pour un monde meilleur et sans souffrances. Je vous embrasse et garde de vous tous le meilleur des souvenirs!

I've had the honour of calling Bernadette my friend since the 70's, where we worked together at CBEF in Windsor. Living far away and although we never got to hold each other in our arms since, we've always kept in touch, in one way or another. I remember a fierce, passionnate, caring and giving lady, always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. I remember her contagious laughter. I remember her kind words on our 40 year old friendship. I will deeply miss you, my dear "longtime chum", as you would refer to us. To you, Brian, to Carole and Shane, my heartfelt condolences. May found memories bring you comfort and strength to carry on.

Mr. O'Brien, Carole, Shane and families!! Your Mother was a very special Lady... I have many childhood memories living accross the street....and again later in life when she took exceptional care of my Mom while she was battling cancer....My Mom always spoke highly and enjoyed her close friendship they shared for many years.... My thoughts are with each of you ...GOD BLESS!!!!!
