John ORLANDO Obituary

ORLANDO, John Ernest
June 22, 1936 - December 20, 2011
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Dr. John E. Orlando.
John is survived by his sons Mark (Maddalena) and Eric (Tammy) and his grandchildren Stephanie, Laura, Michael and Logan. He was the brother to Evelyn Lambert and predeceased by his brothers Frank and Robert and his parents Antonio and Giovanna. He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John touched the lives of numerous students through teaching at St. Jerome's University in the department of psychology from 1971 to 1995. He was chair of the department from 1973-1982. During this time he founded the institute for studies in Learning Disabilities. He was a friend of the congregation of the Resurrectionists for many years and he worked closely with the congregation at St. Jerome's University. John was consulting psychologist for the Waterloo Catholic School Board during the 70's and 80's. His friends will remember him as a true horse lover and riding enthusiast.
On Friday, January 6, 2012 friends are invited to share memories with family members at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo from 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be recited at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church 49 Blueridge Ave., Kitchener with Rev. Sutherland MacDonald C.R. as Celebrant.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association may be arranged through the funeral home www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
