MARENTETTE, Patricia (Pat) Ann
Died in Lake Mary, Florida on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Born June 21, 1924 in Detroit, MI., the daughter of Nora Dusseau and Robert Blenner Hassett. She had three brothers; Robert married to Ann, George married to Irene, Richard married to Joann. Pat is survived by brother Richard (Dick) and wife Joann. Pat attended Immaculata High School then Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan, graduated with a BSc. in Home Economics. While attending Marygrove she was introduced to Raymond B. Marentette Jr. of Sandwich West, Ontario. After a courtship, Pat and Ray were married on September 28, 1946. Early in their marriage they lived on Walker Farms in Windsor, Ontario where Ray was General Manager. They were residents of Windsor, Ontario and Marentette Beach, Leamington, Ontario all of their married life. Her beloved Ray passed away in 1996, just short of their 50th wedding anniversary. Pat and Ray had three children, Mary Kathleen, Raymond, and Ann Patricia. Mary Kathleen passed away in 2003. Patricia is survived by son Raymond and his wife, Donna of Leamington, Ontario and grandchildren, Genevieve and Christopher, Tysha, Erica, Monica, Jessica, Veronica, great- grandchildren, Phaedre, Kailin, Ruby, George, Sienna, Stella, and Vivian. Also, survived by daughter Ann and her husband, Gordon of Winter Park, FL and grandson Sean and wife Cyrene, and grandson Kevin. Pat loved her vocation as a homemaker and mother. She taught Home Economics at the former St. Mary's academy for several years. She was involved in the PTA of the Windsor schools her children attended and she was a member of the Catholic Women's League, American Women's Club, and active in the Hotel Dieu Women's Auxiliary. For many years Pat and Ray divided their time between Marentette Beach, Leamington, Ontario and Bayside Estates, Ft. Myers Beach, FL. Pat continued to remain active in both communities and worked enthusiastically on many creative projects such as oil painting and crafts. In 2002 Pat became a full-time resident of Ft. Myers, Beach and in 2007, daughter Ann moved her to an assisted living facility in Orlando, FL where she could be closer to her. In 2008 Pat moved again to a Springhills Assisted Living facility in Lake Mary, FL where her daughter Ann cared for her until her death. The family is very thankful for the kind and loving community provided by the staff and residents of Springhills and for the care from Vitas Hospice in the last few months. Patricia will be cremated (Baldwin- Fairchild, Orlando, FL) and laid to rest at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Windsor with husband, Raymond and daughter, Kathy. A graveside service for family will be officiated by Father Larry Brunet on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
