ALEXANDER, Philip Valoure Passed to his reward on Monday June 6, 2011 after a brief battle with pneumonia, in his 95th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie (1989), and his parents, Ethel Shreve and Arthur Harding Alexander, his brother Arthur, and sister Gloria Roby. His younger brother Ron lives in California. Philip was the father of Philip Henry (Pat) and David Valoure (Aruna) of Belleville. He was the grandfather of Philip Arthur (Tina), Patricia (Patty) Louise, Daniel David (Paula), Michael Delbert, and Paula Eleanore McGlaun (Norvell), and great-grandfather of Matthew, Lauren, Zachary, Tricia, Michael, Carolyn, Carmen Allen (Adam) and Tyrell. He was also the great-great-grandfather of Unique, Angel and Believe. Phil responded to his country's call during World War II by serving in the infantry in England, France, Italy and Holland. He was a carpenter and cabinet-maker who did custom work for many Windsor businesses and families. He was a member of the Windsor Woodcarvers Assoc., but his focus and energy was directed to his community through the Church. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Windsor, and served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee and Deacon. Visitation will be held at Morris Sutton Funeral Home 68 Giles Blvd East (519-254-8633) on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 8:30 pm with family hour at 7:30pm. Visiting will continue on Friday, June 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church (710 Mercer Street) from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am. Interment to follow at North Buxton Cemetery. Donations to the First Baptist Church or the North American Black Historical Museum would be appreciated.
