BLACKBURN, Rita (McDonald)

Rita Blackburn, passed away peacefully March 3, 2013 at her home in The Village of Sandalwood Park , Brampton, Ontario. Wife of the late Reginald Blackburn. Rita is survived by her daughters - Judy (Bell) husband Ron and Kathy (Vaccher) husband Loris. Her grandchildren, Scott, Stuart, Nikki (husband Stuart Hume) and Greg . Her cousins and friends - Anne and Frank Sherry and family. Numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was born May 19, 1926 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. She was the daughter of the late Cecil and William McDonald. Sister of the late Robert McDonald and Anne Graham. She moved to Malartic, Quebec, North Bay and then to Windsor, Ontario. Rita met and married her husband the late Reginald Blackburn in 1947. She worked for a number of years for the late Dr. William Needham. Rita and Reg enjoyed life together with a close group of friends and neighbours on Norman Road for over 40 years. Rita was fortunate to have many friends and family stay in touch when she moved to Brampton. A special thank you to Betty Murphy, Marg Hartos, Mickey Parker, Ann Meloche and Shirley Hunter. Special recognition and gratitude to Dr. Earle and the dedicated staff and residents of The Village of Sandalwood Park for their exceptional care, compassion and friendship given to Rita these past seven years. As per Rita's wishes, cremation has taken place with interment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and sent to kvaccher@rogers.com
