MAIN, Stanley
It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss we announce the passing of our father, 93 years of age on Tuesday November 13, 2012.
Dear husband of Alma (deceased 2008); cherished and most beloved father of Mary Main of Windsor, Julie LeSage of Belleville and John Main (Gloria) of Keswick. Amazing and adored grandfather of Jennifer Goulin, Garrett Goulin (Kristen) and Shand Goulin (Shannon); Nicole Zanette (Michael) , Mitchell LeSage, and Michael LeSage (Chris): Elise Main and Breanna Main.
Stanley was a veteran from WW2 where he served in the RCAF and was stationed in North Africa. Upon his return to Canada he attended University of Toronto where he obtained his Masters of Social Work. During his career years, he worked in Woodstock, Windsor, and Toronto. He ended his social work career as Chief Social Worker for the former Scarborough Board of Education.
During his retirement years, Stan and Alma wintered in Panama City Beach, Florida where they met and made many new friends. His children and grandchildren also have many special memories of their time spent in Florida with them.
He was a man of warmth with a love of life and of people and of laughter. As our dad said when talking of when his time came…
"Miss Me but Let Me Go"
Miss Me But Let Me Go
Author: Anonymous
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.
