BENETEAU, Robert Paul
January 22, 1944 - June 25, 2014
Paul passed away peacefully with the utmost dignity and courage. This brave warrior was surrounded by his loving and devoted family in the comfort of his home. Cherished husband of 44 years to Suzanne (nee Papineau). Devoted and adored father to Katherine (Steve Beneteau), Laura (Michael Way), David and girlfriend Vanessa Persaud, Paula (Jeremy DeLisle). Funloving Pépé to Ryan, Devin, Kaitlyn, and Corinne Beneteau, Lucas and Liam Way, Andrew and Justin DeLisle. Son of the late Hector Beneteau (1985) and the late Rose Beneteau (nee Gagnier) (1998). Dear brother of Raymond and Joyce Beneteau and the late Stanley Beneteau (2011). Son-in-law of the late Villemaire Papineau (1973) and the late Beatrice Papineau Goyeau (nee Sylvestre) (2007). Brother-in-law of Roland and Sandra Papineau, Marcel and Maureen Papineau, Elaine and Gerry Ray, Therese Papineau and fiancée Joe Derikx, Jerome and Nicole Papineau and Bernadette and Paul Pinsonneault. Special Godfather to Nicole Beneteau and Julie-Anne Pinsonneault. "Uncle Paul" was also admired and respected by his 16 nieces and nephews. Paul lived life to the fullest. He sought adventure, travel, and loved the great outdoors. He worked for Canada Customs at the Ambassador Bridge for 25 years and 7 years on Pelee Island. Paul believed strongly in serving his community, the disadvantaged, and youth. He enjoyed 25 years in Scouting as a leader of Cubs, Scouts, and Rovers. He was President of Pelee Island Legion (Branch 403) and a member of the Fr. Nicholas Point Council 4375 Knights of Columbus. He gave time to his family, church, friends and those in need without reservation. In kindness, Paul has requested that family and friends donate a few hours of their time to the community, or monetary donations to the following charities: St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Anne's Reynosa Mission Project or Habitat for Humanity. Visiting Saturday 7-9 p.m., Sunday 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. with R.C. Legion service Sunday 7 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:30 p.m. at

On Monday, family and friends are invited to gather at St. Anne Church in Tecumseh for Paul's eulogy at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Anne Cemetery. Share memories or make a charitable donation online at
