91 years, on June 4, 2012 at Malden Park Complex Care Centre. Late of Windsor. Beloved husband of Dolores and his late wife Frances (nee Henderson) (1986). Survived by loving daughter Elaine (David Walker) and son Gary (Mark Cyples) of Leamington. Dear grandfather to Scott of Tokyo, Japan, Ryan (Sandra Earl) of Waterloo and Elizabeth Meloche (Joe). Dear brother of Elsie Sinnott, Dorothy Thomas of Ridgetown and Rosemary Wilson of Kentucky. Predeceased by siblings Florence (1920) and Doris (1924) in England, John Austin (2012), Alberta Austin (1995), Carl Sinnott (1990), Lloyd Thomas (2007) and John Wilson (2009). Dear stepfather and step-grandfather to Cindy and Bob McPeters and their children Amy, Shawn, Ryan, Joel and Ashley of Arizona, Joey and Jan Bates and their children Nicole and Richard of Arizona, Cathy and Frank Kailik and their children Frank and Cindy, and Jim and April Bates and their children Kristina, Jaimie, Jared, and Joshua of Arizona. The Austin family emigrated to Canada in 1930 from Garston, Liverpool, England. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert James. Sr. (1983) and Mary (nee Ireland) (1955). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, England and USA. Robert was deferred from military duty during WWII due to his essential war work in engineering at the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Windsor. Robert retired from the Ford Motor Company of Canada in 1980 with 39 years of service, retiring as Quality Control Engine Test and Evaluation Section Supervisor. During WWII, he trained as a journeyman at the Ford Trade School and went on to Automotive Engineering, Experimental Testing and Engine Engineering as a Senior Technical Analyst. Robert was a former elder, usher and member of Riverside United Church, member of the Riverside Legion Branch 255 and a former Scouter as a Cub leader of Mowgli Pack #44 at Riverside United Church.
